The Woodmore Wildcats are taking a road trip to face off against the Oak Harbor Rockets at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The last four games Woodmore has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
While Woodmore's victory against Old Fort wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Wildcats sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 win over the Stockaders on Monday.
Keil Almroth looked comfortable as he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Cole Potridge was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since April 4th. Another player making a difference was Gavin Donley, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and two runs.
Meanwhile, Oak Harbor won against Fostoria on Wednesday with ten runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. The Rockets walked away with a 10-5 victory over Genoa Area. The Rockets haven't had any issues with the Comets recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
The team relied heavily on Karson Lash, who went 4-for-5 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That double was his first of the season. Gavin Witt was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Woodmore has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Oak Harbor, their record now sits at 9-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Woodmore has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Oak Harbor struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Woodmore might still be hurting after the 14-7 loss they got from Oak Harbor in their previous meeting back in March of 2022. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
