The Desert Christian Eagles will head out on the road to take on the Willcox Cowboys at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Desert Christian has given up an average of 10.1 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Monday just wasn't the day for Desert Christian's offense. They came up short against Morenci on Monday, falling 11-0.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Willcox). They were the clear victors by a 26-1 margin over Santa Rita on Friday. Considering the Cowboys have won eight games by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Tucker Stamback made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. Stamback was also big at the plate, earning one run and two stolen bases. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2025.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Anthony Morales, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Jahir Reyes, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Willcox hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Santa Rita struck out six times.
Willcox is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Desert Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-13.
Desert Christian might still be hurting after the 9-1 loss they got from Willcox when the teams last played back in March. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
