It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Odem Owls had no problem doing just that on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Natalia 49-7 at home. The victory was nothing new for Odem as they're now sitting on seven straight.
It was another big night for Josh Chavira, who threw for 235 yards and four touchdowns on only 13 passes. Aidan Lozano was another key contributor, rushing for 135 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries.
Odem has yet to lose a match at home this season, leaving them with a 8-2 record. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-9 Karnes City and 2-7 George West (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 31.2% over those games). As for Natalia, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-8.
Odem will take on Lexington at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Natalia does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
