The Coshocton Redskins have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 35 points or more this season. They took their contest on the road on Thursday with ease, bagging a 78-43 victory over Newcomerstown. Given Coshocton's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 220th, while Newcomerstown is ranked 704th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Alex Taylor, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Those 21 points set a new season-high mark for him. Colton Conkle was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with seven assists and five steals.
The win (which was Coshocton's third in a row) raised their record to 6-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.3 points per game. As for Newcomerstown, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-7.
Coshocton will finish 2023 at home by hosting East Liverpool at 6:15 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in East Liverpool's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three games. Newcomerstown won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Claymont at 7:30 p.m. on December 29th.
