St. Anselm's Abbey is 0-7 against Avalon since May of 2015 but things could change on Wednesday. The Panthers will host the Black Knights at 4:00 p.m. St. Anselm's Abbey is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.8 runs per game this season.

St. Anselm's Abbey's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Tuesday's struggle, when Field hitters got past them. The Panthers fell just short of the Falcons by a score of 10-8 on Tuesday. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Connor Paletta was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times he's played. Alex Farmer was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases.

Meanwhile, Avalon came into Tuesday's game having lost six straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with an 8-5 victory over Burke on Tuesday.

Avalon got a big performance out of Micah Owonu, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Owonu a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Ethan Stepanik, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

St. Anselm's Abbey's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Avalon, their win bumped their record up to 3-10.

Avalon's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: St. Anselm's Abbey has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .469. It's a different story for Avalon, though, as they've only averaged .357. Will they be able to contain St. Anselm's Abbey's hitters?

St. Anselm's Abbey suffered a grim 8-1 defeat to Avalon in their previous meeting back in April of 2019. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
