The Beaver Local Beavers are taking a road trip to take on the Columbiana Clippers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Beaver Local has given up an average of 8.7 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
On Wednesday, Beaver Local came up short against Weir and fell 12-8. The Beavers haven't had much luck with the Red Riders recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.
Paxton Grimes made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple was his first of the season. Nathan Stull was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Columbiana, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They won by a run and slipped past Leetonia 8-7. The win was some much needed relief for the Clippers as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak.
Avery Young made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Columbiana is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 4-8 otherwise. Young was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with four stolen bases and one run.
In other batting news, Hunter Davanzo was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Max Conway, who earned one RBI, one run, and one stolen base.
Columbiana's record is now 6-9. As for Beaver Local, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-11.
Beaver Local suffered a grim 25-6 defeat to Columbiana in their previous meeting back in April of 2023. Can the Beavers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
