Volleyball Recap: The Grove School Victorious

While The Grove School's win against Norton Science & Language Academy wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Ravens skirted past the Rockets 3-2. The Ravens haven't had any issues with the Rockets recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

If you add up the scores from across all five sets (100-88) The Grove School actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. The match finished with set scores of 7-25, 16-25, 25-19, 25-19, 15-12.

The Grove School can attribute much of their success to Yasmin Asgarzadie, who had nine assists and six aces. That's the most aces Asgarzadie has posted since back in October of 2024.

Norton Science & Language Academy's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Genesis Castenada, who had 14 aces and eight kills. The team also got some help courtesy of Aliah Lopez, who had ten aces and eight kills.

The Grove School now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Norton Science & Language Academy, they are on a 16-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

The Grove School didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 2-1 win against New Covenant Academy on the 23rd. As for Norton Science & Language Academy, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Bethel Christian at 6:30 p.m. on September 4.
