Softball Recap: Rocklin Makes It Six in a Row at Home

Rocklin lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Folsom, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's game. Rocklin never let Folsom get on the board and left with a 7-0 victory on Friday. Considering the Thunder have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Payton Prior was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in May of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Savannah Lorenzini was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February of 2024. Cat Alston was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Rocklin's win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Folsom, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-3-2.

When Rocklin and Folsom next hit the field, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Rocklin will challenge Oak Ridge and their 11-game winning streak at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Rocklin 1.6, Oak Ridge 1.4) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Folsom will try to stop Granite Bay's three-game winning streak when they meet at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
