Cloverdale and Fort Bragg are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2019, but likely not for long. The Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Timberwolves at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cloverdale is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.
On Tuesday, Cloverdale got the win against Clear Lake by a conclusive 11-1. Considering the Eagles have won seven games by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
The team relied heavily on Kaloni Brown, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Emmersyn Reasoner was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Cloverdale kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Clear Lake hit Fort Bragg with a nine-run fourth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Timberwolves fell just short of the Cardinals by a score of 10-9. Even though they lost, the Timberwolves' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.2 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).
Nyelli Padila spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and nine unearned) runs on ten hits.
On the hitting side, Katelyn Burbeck was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Hailey Ross, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Cloverdale's win bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Fort Bragg, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.
Fort Bragg's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. Cloverdale has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Fort Bragg, though, as they've been averaging only 3.4 strikeouts. Will Cloverdale keep running through batters, or will the Timberwolves buck the trend?
Cloverdale got the 'W' when the teams last played back in May of 2025 against Fort Bragg by a conclusive 14-4 score. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Timberwolves have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
