The Montague Wildcats will take on the Calvin Christian Squires at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Montague will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
Five must be Montague's lucky number: they beat Grant with that score not once but twice on Thursday. The Wildcats walked away with a 5-2 win over the Tigers. While the Wildcats didn't have the best season last year (they finished 14-19-1), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Ryver Jarka made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 13 over six innings pitched. Jarka was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.
In other pitching news, Conner McKeown looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Montague is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 3-4-1 otherwise.
Jarka wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Eli Petersen, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI. That stolen base marked the first that Petersen has snagged this season.
Meanwhile, Calvin Christian fell victim to Hopkins and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They lost 10-0 to the Vikings. Considering the last time the Squires couldn't score was back in March, the team can't take the result too hard.
Montague's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-4-1. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Calvin Christian, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.
Montague couldn't quite finish off Calvin Christian in their previous meeting back in May of 2017 and fell 9-7. Will the Wildcats have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
