The Oceanside Mariners had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They came out on top against Medomak Valley by a score of 34-22 on Saturday. Oceanside's victory was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.
Cohen Galley was his usual excellent self, rushing for 83 yards and two touchdowns, while also throwing for 209 yards and a touchdown while completing 76.9% of his passes. Galley hasn't dropped below two rushing touchdowns for five straight games. Zeb Foster was another key contributor, picking up 92 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Oceanside's victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-0. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-9 Belfast and 1-8 Brewer (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 39.3% over those games). As for Medomak Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-3.
Oceanside will head out on the road to face off against Leavitt at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Leavitt knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matches -- so hopefully Oceanside likes a good challenge. Medomak Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
