WPIAL AAA Big Nine recap October 8, 2013
Adding to the longest winning streak in WPIAL AAA Big Nine this week, West Mifflin beat Elizabeth Forward 40-16. This was the team's sixth consecutive win.
Belle Vernon was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from eighth to fifth in the league. The Leopards vanquished Trinity 28-0 earlier in the week.
Nico Law threw for 266 yards and 3 touchdowns. He was 13-18 with 0 interceptions.
James Wheeler was a beast in the backfield as West Mifflin topped the Warriors.
Wheeler was the best running back in the league this week. In 30 carries, he ran for 257 yards as Ray Braszo's team topped Laurel Highlands. Jon Green also contributed to the rushing game with 57 yards on the ground.
6-foot-1 quarterback Law of Ringgold is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1,049. He has also thrown 12 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Dietrich. The Thomas Jefferson star has 23 catches for 473 yards.
The Jaguars are currently in second, while Belle Vernon is in fifth.
The Rams moved up to 158 from 189 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in WPIAL AAA Big Nine. Ringgold climbed the ranks as a result of beating Albert Gallatin 42-7.
