Aplington-Parkersburg had to travel to play their first game of the season, and the final result was worth the trip. On Friday, they won a game that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by New Hampton 13-12. Having pegged this as anyone's game, the MaxPreps state rankings were right on the nose. This was the first game for both teams, giving Aplington-Parkersburg a 1-0 record and starting New Hampton off at 0-1.
Next week, Aplington-Parkersburg take on Dike-New Hartford at 7:30 PM. As for New Hampton, they will face of against Charles City.
