Wright City is 0-10 against the Thunderbirds since February of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Wright City Wildcats' road trip will continue as they head out to face the North Callaway Thunderbirds at 7:30 p.m. on February 5th. Wright City will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Missouri Rankings (they are ranked 407th, while the Thunderbirds are ranked 168th).
Last Tuesday, Wright City ended up a good deal behind the Tigers and lost 50-34.
Even though North Callaway has not done well against the Indians recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. North Callaway snuck past the Indians with a 54-49 win. The victory was familiar territory for North Callaway who now have five in a row.
North Callaway's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Riley Blevins, who scored nine points along with seven assists and five steals. Blevins hasn't dropped below four steals for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Abrielle Burgher, who scored 12 points along with five assists.
Wright City has not been sharp recently as the team's lost seven of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season. As for North Callaway, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 15-7.
Wright City suffered a grim 63-40 defeat to the Thunderbirds when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Can Wright City avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
