Basketball Recap: First Baptist Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

First Baptist waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Prior Lake Christian Royals by a score of 60-52. The win was all the more spectacular given the Crusaders' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 218th, while the Royals are ranked 98th).

First Baptist got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jon Anaya out in front who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 boards. Anaya also grabbed five steals, which is notable because First Baptist is 5-1 when he posts at least three steals, but 2-5 otherwise. Caleb Lindsay was another key player, going 6 for 15 on his way to 15 points and five assists.

First Baptist smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in four consecutive games.

Several Royals players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Noah Morgan, who posted 22 points and five rebounds. That was a full 42.3% of Prior Lake Christian's points, marking the third time in a row he's put up more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Rogers, who had 11 points and six boards.

First Baptist now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Prior Lake Christian, with the loss, they broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 11-4.

First Baptist wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, an 80-57 defeat against Rochester Area HomeSchool on the 11th. As for Prior Lake Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 50-44 loss against Fourth Baptist Christian on the 11th.
