Basketball Game Preview: West Central Trojans vs. Tri-County Cavaliers

The West Central Trojans are taking a road trip to take on the Tri-County Cavaliers at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with West Central sitting on seven straight victories and Tri-County on 11.

West Central is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Frontier: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that West Central blew Frontier out of the water with a 58-16 final score. The Trojans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 23 points or more this season.

West Central found their leader in sophomore Madisyn DeMoss, who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine boards. DeMoss has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more blocks the last 11 times she's played. Kailee Bishop was another key player, putting up 11 points along with five rebounds and four steals.

Meanwhile, Tri-County earned a 40-28 win over DeMotte Christian on Monday. The 40-point effort marked the Cavaliers' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Tri-County's victory was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-1. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.9 points per game. As for West Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season.

West Central came up short against Tri-County when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 46-42. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Tri-County's Hannah Arvin, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine boards.
