After flying high against the Catholic Central Hilltoppers last Thursday, the Lake Country Lutheran Lightning came back down to earth. Lake Country Lutheran fell 77-66 to Heritage Christian on Thursday. Lake Country Lutheran was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Heritage Christian apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February.
Lake Country Lutheran's loss came despite strong showings from Jack Poellet and Sam Hans. Poellet scored 19 points, while Hans dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds. The contest was Hans' fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Gavin Skrzypchak, who scored nine points.
Mike Bowen Jr. was his usual excellent self, scoring 24 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds for Heritage Christian. Bowen Jr. has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Trotter, who scored 15 points.
Lake Country Lutheran now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Heritage Christian, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-2.
Lake Country Lutheran will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on University School of Milwaukee at 9:00 a.m. on January 6, 2024. Heritage Christian will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Catholic Central at 7:15 p.m. on January 3, 2024.
