Given University City's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 152nd, while Lincoln is ranked 397th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Dylan Griffin, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 19 rebounds. He has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last 12 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Ben Gavani, who scored 15 points along with four blocks.
Meanwhile, Canyon Crest Academy's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight defeat. They took a hard 70-52 fall against Mission Vista.
University City's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-8. As for Canyon Crest Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 13 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-17 record this season.
