The West Morgan Rebels entered their tilt with the Lawrence County Red Devils with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. West Morgan narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Lawrence County 61-58. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Lawrence County's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ben Newton, who scored 17 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Newton has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Zander Keepers, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
West Morgan's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-12. As for Lawrence County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-11.
West Morgan will head out on the road to face off against Westminster Christian Academy at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. As for Lawrence County, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Russellville at 7:00 p.m. Russellville has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
