Loyalton is 6-1 against Chester since May of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Loyalton Grizzlies will host the Chester Volcanoes at 2:00 p.m.

Loyalton and Mt. Shasta faced off in a Battle of the Bears on Saturday. Loyalton lost 16-1 to Mt. Shasta. The Grizzlies have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Chester hadn't done well against Maxwell recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Chester blew past Maxwell 16-2. The game was the first time the Volcanoes have beaten the Panthers on their field since March 21, 2019.

Hailey Delong and Jenna Schlueter made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Delong pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Schlueter tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. At the plate, Delong scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Schlueter scored three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Kylie Kistle and Sarah Branch did most of the damage at the plate: Kistle went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple, while Branch scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Nancy Christianson, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Chester hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in 11 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Chester now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Loyalton, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Loyalton took their victory against Chester in their previous matchup back in March of 2023 by a conclusive 19-2. Does Loyalton have another victory up their sleeve, or will Chester turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
