Waldron and Edinburgh are an even 4-4 against one another since January of 2015, but not for long. The Waldron Mohawks will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against the Edinburgh Lancers at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Waldron suffered their biggest loss since December 1, 2023 on Thursday. They suffered a rough 61-36 defeat at the hands of New Palestine. While losing is never fun, Waldron can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 279th, while New Palestine is ranked 120th).
Despite the defeat, Waldron had strong showings from Alivia Fischer, who scored 11 points along with two blocks, and Grace Fischer, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and two blocks. Fischer has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last five times she's played.
Meanwhile, Edinburgh's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their sixth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 46-19 loss at the hands of South Decatur.
Waldron bumped their record down to 6-13 with that loss, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Edinburgh, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-18 record this season.
Waldron took their victory against Edinburgh when the teams last played back in January of 2023 by a conclusive 47-23. The rematch might be a little tougher for Waldron since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
