The Palmer Tigers suffered their biggest defeat since December 1, 2023 on Friday. They were outmatched by Riverside on the road and fell 80-16. Palmer was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 53-7.
Lane Mottl was Palmer's leading scorer, having posted eight points.
Adrian Kanter held things down on the boards with seven rebounds.
Riverside's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Carter Keehn, who scored 14 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Keehn has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Dane Schalk, who scored 12 points.
Palmer dropped their record down to 1-11 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 21.7 points per game. As for Riverside, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a massive bump to their 10-6 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Palmer will take on Elba at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Elba is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Riverside, they the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Lutheran-Northeast at 7:30 p.m. on January 29th. Lutheran-Northeast is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
