The Somers Spartans came tearing into Friday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.5 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against Bolton by a score of 56-47. Given Somers' advantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 48th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 174th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Despite the loss, Bolton still got an impressive performance from Gavin LaPlante, who scored 22 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Joshua Wagner, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Somers pushed their record up to 10-3 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Bolton, they are on a 16-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-16.
Somers and the Wildcats will face off at 6:45 p.m. on February 5th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Suffield has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Bolton, they will head out on the road to square off against the Bulldogs at 6:45 p.m. on Monday.
