Abingdon/Avon came out on top against Galva  on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run fourth inning. The Tornadoes put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp  13-3 win. Considering the Tornadoes have won six matches by more than five  runs this season, Friday's  blowout was nothing new.
 Lillie Stephens made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she  struck out six batters over  five innings while giving up just two earned  (and one unearned) runs off   two  hits. Those  six  strikeouts gave  her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box,  going a perfect 3-for-3 with four  RBI, two  doubles,  and one  stolen base. Those  doubles marked the first that  she has  hit this season.
 In other batting news, Abingdon/Avon let  Taylor Ford and  Avery Stegall run wild. Ford  got on base  in all four of her plate appearances with three  stolen bases, three  RBI,  and two  runs, while  Stegall  went 3-for-4 with three  stolen bases and four  runs. Those  four  runs gave  Stegall a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of  Emma Gunther, who  got on base  in three of her four plate appearances with two  runs, one  stolen base,  and one  RBI.
 Abingdon/Avon  kept the outfield on their toes and  finished the game with 12  hits. They are 6-1 when  they post 11 or more  hits.
The  victory made it two in a row for Abingdon/Avon and  bumps their season record up to 7-9. Those  wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5  runs in those games. As for Galva, their loss was  their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which  dropped their record down to 0-5.
 Looking ahead, Abingdon/Avon will take on Annawan-Wethersfield at 4:30  p.m.  on Tuesday. As for Galva, they will head out to  take on Biggsville West Central  at 4:30  p.m.  on Tuesday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Heat have averaged an impressive 11.3  runs per game this season.
