The Cerritos Dons will head out on the road to face off against the Fillmore Flashes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Thursday, Cerritos got themselves on the board against Pioneer, but Pioneer never followed suit. They blew past the Titans, posting a 55-0 win on the road. Considering Cerritos has won three matches by more than 19 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Among those leading the charge was Dikshanta Adhikari, who rushed for 110 yards and two touchdowns. Adhikari's longest rush was for an incredible 73 yards. Ruben Castro also deserves a mention for his punt return touchdown.
Meanwhile, Fillmore entered their tilt with Hueneme with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. Fillmore came out on top against Hueneme by a score of 35-28 on Friday. The score was all tied up 21-21 at the break, but Fillmore was the better team in the second half.
Fillmore can attribute much of their success to Anthony Tafoya, who threw for 146 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. The team also got some help courtesy of David Jimenez, who rushed for 62 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries.
The victory (which was Cerritos' third in a row) raised their record to 5-5. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 37.67 points. As for Fillmore, their victory bumped their record up to 7-3.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's game: Cerritos has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 163 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Fillmore struggles in that department as they've been even better at 192 per game. It's looking like Friday's match might have some serious battles in the trenches.
