Basketball Recap: Caden Dooley Key Part of a Team Effort in Bears Win

Lawrence Central lost to Bloomington North back in December of 2023, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The Lawrence Central Bears enjoyed a cozy 75-58 win over the Bloomington North Cougars. Given the Bears' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 72nd, while the Cougars are ranked 248th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lawrence Central's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Caden Dooley, who posted ten points. Doron Harris was another key player, putting up ten points.

Lawrence Central was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Several Cougars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Derrick J.R. Cross, who went 8 for 17 on his way to 19 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Nathan Walker, who went 6 of 9 on his way to 16 points and six assists.

Lawrence Central is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 5-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.0 points per game. As for Bloomington North, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-7.

Lawrence Central wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 77-60 victory against Evansville Bosse on the 3rd. As for Bloomington North, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 63-53 win against South Dearborn on the 3rd.
