Caldwell hasn't had much luck against Skyview recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Cougars will look to defend their home field against the Hawks at 4:00 p.m. Caldwell has given up an average of 20.9 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
It was a proper cat-fight when Caldwell took on Columbia on Friday. The Cougars came up short against the Wildcats, falling 21-7.
Connor Fullerton made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two triples, two stolen bases, and one run.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Skyview). Everything went their way against Emmett on Tuesday as they made off with a 14-4 win. The victory was nothing new for the Hawks as they're now sitting on three straight.
Trevan Plew and Aaron Vavold did most of the damage at the plate: Plew went 2-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double, while Vavold went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three runs gave Vavold a new career-high. Tyler Russell was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Skyview's win bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Caldwell, their loss dropped their record down to 1-8.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Caldwell has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Skyview struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 2.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Caldwell might still be hurting after the 9-0 defeat they got from Skyview in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
