The Caledonia Cavaliers fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against the Kosciusko Whippets on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Whippets 76-70. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Kosciusko's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jaybre Pierce, who scored 22 points along with five assists and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Pierce has scored all season. Andrew Mancell was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with six rebounds.
Caledonia's defeat ended a nine-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 17-5. As for Kosciusko, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season.
Caledonia will be playing at home against North Pontotoc at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Kosciusko, Kosciusko and Greenwood will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 29th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Greenwood comes in on four and Kosciusko on three.
