Narbonne hasn't had much luck against San Pedro recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Gauchos will take on the Pirates at 3:15 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Friday, Narbonne got the win against Bernstein by a conclusive 15-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Gauchos.
Mariah Villalobos made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Those nine strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Narbonne got a massive performance out of Cheyenne Bennett, who went 2-for-4 with four stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Bennett has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Delilah Celio, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with five stolen bases and three runs.
Meanwhile, San Pedro had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it nine on Wednesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Lobos a 26-0 shutout. That looming 26-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Pirates yet this season.
Caroline Baker looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, AnnMarie Groves was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Kaitlyn Borges was another key player, getting on base in five of her six plate appearances with four RBI, one run, and one double.
San Pedro always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .717. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in five consecutive matches.
San Pedro pushed their record up to 12-2 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.9 runs over those games. As for Narbonne, their record is now 13-4.
Narbonne's speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's contest. The Gauchos have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for San Pedro, though, as they've been averaging only 1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Narbonne continue to outrun the ball?
Narbonne suffered a grim 20-1 defeat to San Pedro in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Gauchos avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
