The Bartram Trail Bears will face off against the Tocoi Creek Toros at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Bartram Trail 2.9, Tocoi Creek 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Bartram Trail barely beat Providence School the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bears never let the Stallions get on the board and left with a 6-0 victory on Thursday. The Bears might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by six runs or more this season.
Max Wilkerson was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February. Shane Smith was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Thursday Tocoi Creek sidestepped Palatka for a 1-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Toros in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won four in a row.
The result came thanks to Tommy Glasspoole's shutout, as he gave up just a hit and racked up nine Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Tocoi Creek is 4-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 9-11 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Tocoi Creek saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Micah Hernandez, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.
Tocoi Creek now has a winning record of 13-12. As for Bartram Trail, their win bumped their record up to 16-9.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Bartram Trail has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Tocoi Creek struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 2.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Bartram Trail couldn't quite finish off Tocoi Creek in their previous meeting on Tuesday and fell 3-1. Can the Bears avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
