The Burlingame Panthers on the road again on Wednesday and play against the Half Moon Bay Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on January 24th. Burlingame has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Burlingame ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They secured a 74-70 W over Sequoia. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Alain Kazarian was his usual excellent self, scoring 28 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Burlingame's points. Another player making a difference was Marcus Tapia, who went 6 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 18 points and 1 assist.
Meanwhile, Half Moon Bay came tearing into Friday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on Jefferson with a sharp 71-45 win. Half Moon Bay has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 24 points or more this season.
Burlingame's victory bumped their record up to 10-8. As for Half Moon Bay, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-4.
Burlingame might still be hurting after the 73-51 defeat they got from Half Moon Bay in their previous matchup back in May of 2021. Thankfully for Burlingame, Mykola Ediger (who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
