3A Conference 17 recap November 5, 2013
Richlands lost to Jacksonville 35-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Swansboro made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 3,507 from 4,085. The improvement was the result of a 23-13 victory over West Craven last week.
Devon Godette provided a threat through the air and on the ground as West Carteret beat White Oak.
Shaunee Meadows was a key player and the best on defense this week as the Pirates bested the Eagles. The 5-foot-11 sophomore grabbed 2 sacks.
Tyrone Brown was the best wideout in 3A Conference 17 this week as West Craven lost to Swansboro. Brown racked up 4 receptions for 84 yards. Kenny McDaniel helped West Craven's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 39 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Havelock takes on second place West Craven.
There should be lots of points scored when Havelock and Matthew Riggsbee's team face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Rams comes in having scored 449 this season, while the Eagles have scored 269.
