The Dayton Dust Devils's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their ninth straight defeat. They were dealt a 48-18 defeat at the hands of Churchill County. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Dayton in their matchups with Churchill County: they've now lost five in a row.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Dayton struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Churchill County pulled down 13 offensive rebounds.
Churchill County found their leader in underclassman Jada Anastasio, who scored 14 points along with six steals and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Madasyn Moyle, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
Dayton has been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 13 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season. As for Churchill County, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season.
Dayton will head out on the road to challenge Lowry at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Dayton is coming into the contest with five straight losses on the road, meaning Lowry will have to defend against a squad hungry for a win. As for Churchill County, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Fernley at 6:00 p.m. Churchill County is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
