Softball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is Havana's Sixth in Last Seven Outings

Havana won the last time they faced Delavan and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Ducks put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 9-1 win. Considering the Ducks have won eight contests by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Maddie Howerter made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hannah Hodgson, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one double. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Addie Atwater, who went 2-for-4 with two triples, one run, and one RBI.

Havana is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-2-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Delavan, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 10-12.

Coming up, Havana will challenge Cuba/Spoon River Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Delavan, they will face off against Spoon River Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
