After flying high against the Westchester Country Day Wildcats last Friday, the Calvary Day School Cougars came back down to earth. Calvary Day School took a 87-75 hit to the loss column at the hands of High Point Christian Academy on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Calvary Day School can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 133rd, while High Point Christian Academy is ranked 13th).
Calvary Day School's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dane Cassada, who scored 21 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Cassada hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games. Owen Calvert was another key contributor, scoring 26 points.
Calvary Day School has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-13 record this season. As for High Point Christian Academy, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-3.
Calvary Day School will stay at home for another game and welcome Greensboro Day School at 7:00 p.m. on January 26th. As for High Point Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to challenge Wesleyan Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
