Billy Garrett Jr., one of the top sophomore point guards in the country, has made a commitment to DePaul University, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. The 6-foot-4 Garrett, son of DePaul assistant coach Billy Garrett Sr., also had offers from Florida State, Seton Hall, Stanford and UNLV. He plays for Morgan Park (Chicago).
* One of the nation's top unsigned seniors,
Ben McLemore, made a commitment to the University of Kansas, according to the Kansas City Star. The 6-6 McLemore started the season at Oak Hill Academy (Mouth of Wilson, Va.), but is finishing at Christian Life Center Academy (Humble, Texas).
* On the girls side, the Contra Costa Times reports that
Hannah Huffman has chosen the University of Notre Dame over UCLA. The 5-9 junior guard averaged 16.5 points, 6.6 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 3.5 steals this year for Carondelet (Concord, Calif.). Her father, Lon Huffman, played golf for the Fighting Irish, graduating in 1986.
