5A Region III District 21 recap Sept. 26, 2012
Micah Thomas and Jared Pendleton provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Madison. The connection went for 57 yards, the longest such play in 5A Region III District 21 this season.
Port Arthur Memorial extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Bellaire, 41-7. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.
North Shore's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Thomas threw for 161 and two touchdowns and Kevian DeLeon had 76 yards receiving. On the ground Jereel Cooper chipped in 62 yards. Pendleton helped North Shore's passing attack out by catching one ball for 57 yards.
North Shore's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Mustangs feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Thomas has thrown for 608 yards and five touchdowns this season, while DeLeon has nine catches for 270 yards. Tristan Houston leads the league in rushing with 465 yards.
A big matchup in 5A Region III District 21 this week will be when Deer Park takes on Port Arthur Memorial. The Deer are currently in fifth, while Kenny Harrison's team is in first.
West Brook was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to fourth in the league. Earlier in the week, the Bruins triumphed over Chavez 49-0.
