After losing to the South Titans the last time they met, the Kapaun Mt. Carmel Crusaders decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Kapaun Mt. Carmel pulled ahead with a 42-41 photo finish over the Titans.
Kapaun Mt. Carmel's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ella Rudy led the charge by scoring 13 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Rudy has scored all season. Lizzie Romer was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Kapaun Mt. Carmel has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-6 record this season. As for South, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-3.
Kapaun Mt. Carmel won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the RedHawks at 6:00 p.m. on January 31st. North will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kansas Rankings (they are ranked 298th, while the Crusaders are ranked 118th). As for South, they will head out on the road to challenge the Falcons on Tuesday. Heights' defense has only allowed 26 points per game this season, so the Titans' offense will have their work cut out for them.
