Canyon del Oro fell 58-49 to Pueblo on Tuesday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Canyon del Oro came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 76th, while Pueblo is ranked 248th).
Canyon del Oro's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Mykael Nunez, who scored 21 points along with eight rebounds and two steals, and Will Dixion who scored 13 points along with two blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Nunez has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Gill, who scored four points along with two steals.
Canyon del Oro has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 16-7 record this season. As for Pueblo, their win bumped their record up to 5-18.
Canyon del Oro will look to defend their home court on Friday against Salpointe Catholic at 7:00 p.m. As for Pueblo, they will head out on the road to square off against Cholla at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
