South Pointe put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against the Camden Bulldogs by a score of 66-53. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 66-54 back in January.
South Pointe was led to victory by JaNyia Cunningham and Kaleigh Lucas. Cunningham almost dropped a double-double on 25 points and nine rebounds, while Lucas posted 19 points along with seven assists and six boards. That's the most assists Lucas has posted since back in December of 2024. Laila Lewis was another key player, putting up nine points.
South Pointe smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in six consecutive matches.
Camden's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. The team also got some help courtesy of Jillian Rush, who had ten points and eight boards.
South Pointe's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 21-0. As for Camden, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-5.
South Pointe wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 70-19 win against River Bluff on the 1st. As for Camden, they will head out to face off against Trinity Collegiate at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
