The Somerset Academy Panthers proved they can win big  last Tuesday (they won by 51) but  on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past Elite Academy  69-67. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest  win Somerset Academy has posted  yet this season.
 Somerset Academy was led to victory by  Jahlon Blain and  Anthony Henderson.  Blain  scored 17 points, while  Henderson  scored 17 points along with four  steals. Blain hasn't dropped below 15points for five straight games. Another player making a difference was  Johnathan Point du jour, who  scored nine points along with 12  rebounds.
 Elite Academy's  loss shouldn't obscure the performances of  Ladainian Brooks, who  scored 19 points along with eight  rebounds, and  Kyler Theophile who  scored 20 points along with eight  rebounds. Brooks is on a roll when it comes to  rebounds, as he's  now  pulled down eight or more in the last six games he's  played.  Travis Chin was another key contributor,  scoring 14 points along with two  steals.
 Somerset Academy has  been performing  well recently as they've  won five of their last six matchups,  which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. As for Elite Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 10-9.
 Somerset Academy won't have much time to rest: their next  contest is against Chaminade-Madonna at 7:30  p.m.  on January 19th. Chaminade-Madonna is hoping to put an end to  a three-game streak of away losses. As for Elite Academy, they will face off against Mater Academy Charter at 6:30  p.m.  on Saturday. Mater Academy Charter will have to bring their A-game into this one,  as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 271st, while Elite Academy is ranked 134th).
