The Leon Lions will face off against the Chiles Timberwolves at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Leon took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over Taylor County.
Levi Hubbard was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Hubbard was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Leon: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 4-5 otherwise.

In other batting news, Max Latimer and Ryan Bergstrom did most of the damage at the plate: Latimer got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Bergstrom got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs, one double, and one RBI. Those four runs gave Bergstrom a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Gregory, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Leon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Chiles had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.6 runs) and they went ahead and made it eight on Saturday. They blew past the Crusaders 12-2. With that win, the Timberwolves brought their scoring average up to 6.5 runs per game.
Alex Haine made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Chiles let EN Bass and Trace Morris run wild. Bass went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Morris went 3-for-4 with five RBI and one run. Another player making a difference was Saunder Dinkelman, who earned one RBI, three runs, and one stolen base.
Chiles' victory bumped their record up to 9-3. As for Leon, their win bumped their record up to 7-5.
