The John Paul II Centurions lost against the Holy Cross Knights back in October of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. John Paul II took a serious blow against Holy Cross, falling 72-6. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for John Paul II in their matchups with Holy Cross: they've now lost seven in a row.
Armando Rivera threw for 114 yards and a touchdown. Connor Mccullion was his top target, picking up 65 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Holy Cross' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Daniel Perez led the charge by rushing for 105 yards and two touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Gibby Alvarado, who threw for 213 yards and two touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes.
John Paul II's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Holy Cross, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 8-2.
The Centurions will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Guardians at 7:00 p.m. The Guardians are hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Holy Cross, they will head out on the road to face off against Geneva at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Geneva is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
