The Fountain-Fort Carson Trojans are taking a road trip to take on the Doherty Spartans at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Fountain-Fort Carson is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.
Fountain-Fort Carson proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by seven) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Rampart, sneaking past 4-2.

Joseph Baumbach spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on six hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Fountain-Fort Carson saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cody Greiner, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Doherty, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They put the hurt on Liberty with a sharp 11-1 victory on Tuesday. Considering the Spartans have won five contests by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Derek Graham made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Dominick Morelli was a standout: he scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. He has become a key player for Doherty: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-7 otherwise. Giovanni Rishavy was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
Doherty always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in five consecutive games.
Doherty is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Fountain-Fort Carson, their record is now 8-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Fountain-Fort Carson has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Doherty struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Fountain-Fort Carson couldn't quite get it done against Doherty in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 as they fell 7-3. Can the Trojans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
