The Culver Academies Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the NorthWood Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Culver Academies focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Saturday.
Culver Academies struggled with offensive rebounds on Saturday (Carroll had eight more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Culver Academies fell 60-48 to Carroll.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Valencia Miller, who scored 13 points. The game was her third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Reid Seddelmeyer, who scored eight points.
Culver Academies struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, NorthWood scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They came out on top against Bremen by a score of 63-55. The victory was nothing new for NorthWood as they're now sitting on five straight.
NorthWood relied on the efforts of Claire Payne, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 18 rebounds, and Joselyn Edwards, who scored 23 points along with three steals. Those 18 rebounds set a new season-high mark for Payne. Callie Johnson was another key contributor, scoring five points along with six assists and three steals.
Culver Academies' defeat was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 7-5. As for NorthWood, their win bumped their record up to 8-2.
Keep an eye on the arc in Wednesday's match: Culver Academies have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 4.3 threes per game. It's a different story for NorthWood, though, as they've been averaging only 4.3 threes per game. Given Culver Academies' sizeable advantage in that area, NorthWood will need to find a way to close that gap.
