The Andrews Yellowjackets suffered their biggest loss since December 1, 2023 on Wednesday. They suffered a rough 55-35 defeat at the hands of Marion. While losing is never fun, Andrews can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 160th, while Marion is ranked 38th).
Andrews' defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Chris Stewart, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds, and Vincent Rhue who scored 17 points along with two blocks. Stewart also posted two+ blocks for the first time this season.
Marion's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jamorius Wilson, who scored eight points along with 16 rebounds. Wilson is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jameir Legette, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds.
Andrews' loss dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Marion, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-7.
Andrews will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Kingstree at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th. As for Marion, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Hannah-Pamplico at 7:30 p.m. Hannah-Pamplico is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 50.1 points per game.
