Baseball Recap: Crown Point Snags 12th Victory in Last 13 Games

Crown Point won the last time they faced Morgan Township and things went their way on Friday too. The Bulldogs were the clear victors by a 21-1 margin over the Cherokees. The contest marked the Bulldogs' most dominant win of the season.

Logan Cotton made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). Cotton was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April.

In other pitching news, Riley Ackerman looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Sean Dunlap was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mick Vagner, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and four RBI.

Crown Point always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .700. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Crown Point is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Morgan Township, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-16-1 record this season.

Crown Point didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 14-1 win against Michigan City on the 20th. As for Morgan Township, they have also already played their next matchup, a 7-5 loss against Bremen on the 17th.
