After the teams both made easy work of their previous opponents, one of them is set up to suffer a discouraging change of fortune.
Greater Lawrence Tech brought a three-game winning streak into their matchup against Shawsheen Valley Tech last Friday; they left with a four-game streak. Greater Lawrence Tech were the clear victor by a 42-8 margin over Shawsheen Valley Tech. That looming 34-point mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Greater Lawrence Tech yet.
Meanwhile, Lowell Catholic won the match and then some against Cathedral/Cristo Rey, taking the match 29-6. Lowell Catholic were expected to win, but the margin was definitely larger than the state rankings had forecast.
Their wins bumped Lowell Catholic to 2-5 and Greater Lawrence Tech to 5-2. With both Greater Lawrence Tech and Lowell Catholic swaggering in after impressive performances, it will be interesting to see which team steps up to teach the other some humility.
