On Thursday, Omaha Westside beat Doherty 43-32.
It was another big night for Kara Stricklin, who scored 18 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Kathryn Gaughen, who scored six points.
Doherty lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Avery Blanc, who scored seven points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rachel Stewart, who scored eight points.
Doherty struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Omaha Westside has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. As for Doherty, they have fallen quite a ways from their 19-7 record last season and are now at 2-6.
Omaha Westside and Papillion-LaVista will face off at 10:15 a.m. on December 29th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Papillion-LaVista focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 last Saturday. Doherty will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Columbine at 7:00 p.m. on January 3, 2024. Columbine presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Doherty in Colorado (Columbine is ranked 33rd, while Doherty is ranked 131st).
