Softball Recap: North Beats Metro Tech for Their Fourth Straight Victory

North entered their tilt with Metro Tech on Friday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They put the hurt on the Knights with a sharp 14-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won six contests by ten runs or more so far this season.

Solis Coker was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two).

In other batting news, Natalie Figueroa was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two triples, two runs, and one stolen base. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Damaris Gutierez, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.

North was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .378 or higher in four consecutive matches.

North pushed their record up to 8-9 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.0 runs over those games. As for Metro Tech, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.

North has already played their next contest, an 11-7 defeat against Fairfax on the 7th. As for Metro Tech, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Washington at 4:00 p.m. on the 14th.
